Revenant, the terrorist organization Cathedral has been fighting, sends Nancy recorded messages from Kate if she decides to obey seemingly-small orders. Nancy learns that Kate was not only a journalist for the Glasgow Standard, but also a spy for Cathedral, and that she was friends with another spy named Moira Chisholm. Nancy's father didn't trust Moira because she was always making Kate break her promise to stay with her family and put Cathedral behind her. Kate was noticed by Cathedral due to her ability to cut through high volumes of information quickly. During the interview process, in which the applicant is supposed to differentiate between fact, assumption, and disinformation, Kate noticed the hidden cameras and microphone and discovered the true purpose of the interview, and was hired on the spot.
A crossed out letter in Ewan's lair indicates that she might in fact be alive. Strangely, Nancy doesn't comment when she sees the letter, and based on the epilogue, it seems that she has no knowledge of the letter.
Elisabet mentions her mother died when she was young, and Nancy tells Elisabet her mother died as well.
