The Phantom of Venice is the eighteenth game in the Nancy Drew adventure series. It is based on Nancy Drew Mystery Stories #78: The Phantom of Venice.
Valuable artifacts are being stolen from all over Venice by the thief known as "Il Fantasma" or "The Phantom". Somehow he is able to steal the artifacts without breaking anything or tripping any alarms whatsoever, always managing to escape in the dead of night. The Italian police force can use all the help they can get as Carnivale draws near, and Nancy is personally contacted by the GDiF to help investigate. Eccentric socialite Prudence Rutherford allows Nancy stay in the Ca' Nascosta (her house), which is currently occupied by Prudence's acquaintance, Margherita Faubourg.
Margherita currently owns the Ca' Nascosta, where Nancy is staying.
Helena is a German journalist staying at the Ca', rooming together with Nancy. She loves Venice and is currently looking for inspiration for her latest magazine article.
Colin is currently working for Margherita for very little pay, restoring the mosaics in the Ca'. He is extremely passionate about his work.
Sophia is an agent of the GDiF (the Italian equivalent of a branch of the FBI). Nancy can only speak to her through a special PDA device provided by the GDiF.
Known for his love of the card game Scopa, Enrico is a member of a crime ring that Nancy eventually becomes involved with.
Fango is the GDiF's prime suspect. From her vantage point at the Ca', Nancy must spy on him to find out whether or not he has any connection to the Phantom.
The phone is located in Nancy's room, to the right of the balcony door.
Ned is Nancy's boyfriend, and is staying with Joe, a detective friend of Nancy's. They will alternate answering the phone. They can give her advice if she's a Junior Detective.
Prudence is Nancy's socialite friend from Kansas who set her up on this case. Nancy previously helped her recover her stolen fire ruby necklace in Secret of the Scarlet Hand.
